Since this doesn't update the head though, head-slot cosmetics such as hair will remain in place. Fortunately, upgrading their armor fixes that - when you upgrade a unit's armor, all of their "body" cosmetic options are automatically replaced with ones from the new armor tier, and since you're upgrading to a Skirmisher-exclusive armor their "body" will switch back to the Skirmisher ones. Less irreversible though is that the Skirmisher will no longer have access to the Skirmisher-exclusive cosmetic options - going to their customize screen will only show the options that were available to the soldier in the pool. I don't think there's anything that can be done about that. Firstly, the flag icon on the barracks screen will be an actual flag instead of the Skirmisher logo. Then when you go to your save file and hit "Load from character pool" it will find that soldier in your pool and apply all of its cosmetic options to the one in your file - including ones that it normally can't use, such as hair on a Skirmisher. What you do is create a non-Skirmisher soldier in your character pool that has the hair you want, and has the same first and last name as the Skirmisher in your save file you want to change. While there is no dedicated mod for unlocking the hair slot on Skirmishers, you can achieve the same effect using the Load from character pool mod. It's probably way too late for me to reply to this, but since this is one of the first Google results when searching for ways to put hair on Skirmishers, I figure I should post the solution here for other people who are looking for this.
